Ranger Art  -  The Good Stuff!

Picture
The Visual Art students created this group project for the 2012 Fine Arts Festival.

The official title is Unforgettable.  The little girl escaping from the canvas has lovingly been dubbed Cassie Opolis!

The Fine Arts Festival kids met at lunch together in the art room two weeks for discussions on the best way to approach the theme of the year – unforgettable.  The conversation that continued to surface was how terrifying it was to get on the bus as little child.  The long isle between the tall school bus seats seemed to go on and on and it lead the way to the place where the “big” kids sat!

I was impressed at the amount of the art theory and knowledge the Cassopolis Fine Arts Festival students incorporated into the composition.   I facilitated, but the project was student lead.  What a skillful, smart and unforgettable group of students!

The Visual Art students who attended the fine Arts Festival and created this painting were:

Hannah Ayers, Samantha Stutzman, Nicolette Harris, Devan Hillyer, Kierra Jones, Hayley Moore, Chris Pittman, Aja McCray, Kayla Hershberger, and Dominic Forbes.  The artwork that they submitted and brought with them to the Fine Arts Festival can be viewed throughout this site.

Besides doing great work in art class - we like to have fun.  Visual Art and Band students visited the Detroit Institute of Art on April 13th.  Except for the 8 hours on the bus (which really wasn't so bad) the day was amazing!  The first stop was the Diego Rivera Mural Hall - a very important work of art in America. Before students got back on the bus to go home they formed a friendship circle.  I love these kids!
This activity is supported by Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
